Global Money Exchange Launches ‘Global Pay’ Mobile App Powered by Comviva

Global Pay mobile wallet supports secure QR payments, utility bill payments, and financial inclusion in Oman.

Global Money Exchange Co. LLC (GMEC), Oman’s leading money exchange company, has officially launched Global Pay, a next-generation mobile payments application powered by Comviva’s mobiquity Pay platform. The launch marks a major milestone in Oman’s digital payments ecosystem and aligns closely with the Sultanate’s national digital transformation and cashless economy vision.

Developed in partnership with Comviva and a subsidiary of Tech Mahindra, the Global Pay app delivers a secure, scalable, and inclusive digital payment experience for individuals and merchants across Oman.

The launch event was attended by senior executives from Global Money Exchange, including Sheikh Ahmed Abdulmalik Abdullah Al Khalili, Sheikh Azzan Abdulmalik Abdullah Al Khalili, Rohit Nair, Simranjit Singh, and Kingshuk Debnath. Representatives from Comviva included Rajesh Fondekar, Sadiq Pasha, and Nitin Vyas, underscoring the strategic importance of the partnership.

Secure Digital Payments Aligned with Oman’s Vision 2040
Speaking at the launch, Sheikh Sulaiman Abdulmalik Abdullah Al Khalili, Chairman, Global Money Exchange, highlighted that Global Pay enables secure local and international money transfers, utility bill payments, and everyday digital transactions. He emphasized that the platform is PCI-DSS certified, reinforcing GMEC’s commitment to the highest standards of payment security and data protection.

He added that Global Pay is designed for both Omani nationals and expatriates, supporting safe, fast, and convenient mobile transactions.

Powered by Comviva’s mobiquity Pay Platform
Rajesh Chandiramani, CEO, Comviva, said the launch demonstrates Comviva’s focus on accelerating fintech innovation in the Middle East. Built on the mobiquity Pay cloud-ready digital payments platform, Global Pay supports rapid scalability, interoperability, and seamless expansion.

“Global Pay exemplifies our mission to empower financial institutions with world-class digital payment solutions that enhance customer experience and promote financial inclusion,” Chandiramani said.

Driving Financial Inclusion with Bank-Independent Payments
Subromoniyan K S, Managing Director, Global Money Exchange, noted that customers can pay utility bills and educational fees without a bank account, significantly improving access to digital financial services. He also highlighted that merchants can accept QR-based payments from customers of any bank or payment service provider in Oman, ensuring full payments ecosystem interoperability.

According to Sonam Dorje, General Manager, Global Money Exchange, Global Pay is backed by a comprehensive customer support framework. Customers can seek assistance at GMEC branches nationwide or access a dedicated customer support helpline for quick issue resolution.

First PSP-Licensed Exchange Supporting a Cashless Economy
Madhusoodanan R, Executive Advisor to the Board, Global Money Exchange, emphasized that GMEC is the first money exchange company in Oman to receive a Payment Service Provider (PSP) license. He stated that Global Pay strongly supports Oman’s transition toward a cashless digital economy, with additional features planned for phased rollout to enhance customer value.
